Extra Large Commercial Stencils, Multiple Part And Multiple Layer Stencils

Step by Step Stencil Instructions by Laser Cutting Services

EXTRA LARGE STENCILS
Stencils come in a maximum size sheets but we can ease application of extra large stencils by either providing sheets which can be flush fitted (butted up) or by providing registration marks.
EXTRA LARGE STENCILS USING FLUSH FITTING
  • Prepare – Make sure area/item you are stencilling is clean and dry.
  • Check positioning – Check positioning of entire design. At this stage you need to lightly mark lines or dots to determine vertical and horizontal axis alignment/ positioning of your entire design.
  • Alignment – We will have provided you with separate sheets which can be flush fitted (butted together) You can use masking tape or lightly spray the reverse of stencil with spray adhesive, depending on the base material stencil has to adhere to. Depending on finished size of your stencil, which determines how many subsequent sheets you need, you have to align with vertical/ horizontal axis lines/ dots you marked at the beginning.
  • Spray colour – Spray lightly. Keeping airbrush 3 – 4” from stencil. Apply subsequent light coats building up to desired colour intensity. (If using paint and a stencil “dabbing” brush, check paint tin for instructions on paint thickness, coverage.) Allow to dry.
  • Peel off – Once dry and you have completed all your design layers, peel off the stencils.
  • Clean stencil – Stencil can be cleaned in alcohol or appropriate solvent for your paint (check tin).

EXTRA LARGE STENCILS USING REGISTRATION MARKS
  • Prepare – Make sure area/item you are stencilling is clean and dry.
  • Check positioning – Check positioning of entire design. At this stage you need to lightly mark lines or dots to determine vertical and horizontal axis alignment/positioning of entire design.
  • Align registration marks – You can join together all the sheets provided to spray your entire stencil by aligning the registration marks we provide, ensuring that all sheets align with horizontal and / or vertical entire design lines or dots you marked at first step. Registration marks will often be small circles, the quantity and position of these is determined by what we deem necessary for your individual design and will be unobtrusive. You need to line up these marks for each subsequent sheet; Tape or spray glue stencil to the next stencil and/ or base application area for each and every subsequent sheet.
  • Peel off – Once dry and you have aligned all your sheets, peel off the stencils.
  • Clean stencil – Stencil can be cleaned in alcohol or appropriate solvent for your paint (check tin).
