Project: Angel Lane Cloud Wall (Stratford, East London)

Client: S Lucas in conjunction with the Olympic Delivery Authority
Value: Confidential

Laser Cutting Services has recently undertaken and completed a large commercial stencilling project in conjunction with S Lucas spray and painting contractors and the Olympic Delivery Authority. The painting project stretches for over a kilometre long and is on a pedestrian area of a new road bridge reconstructed as part of improvements made to the transport network for the Olympic Park in East London.
The new Angel Lane Bridge for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians connects The Stratford Centre with the Olympic Park.

WORK IN PROGRESS - HOW THE STENCILS WERE APPLIED TO THE WALL THAT STRETCHED OVER A KILOMETRE LONG
    =

Danny from S Lucas approached us with the task of creating a stencil to paint a mural on a concrete wall that measured over 3 metres high and a kilometre long on a one side of a pedestrian bridge that was also on an elevation. The artwork was divided into manageable sections and a multiple part stencil was made up of over 700 sections.

LARGE STENCILLED WALKWAY THAT CONNECTS STRATFORD TO THE OLYMPIC PARK

The large stencil design was created by students Oscar Bauer and Nazareno Crea at London's Royal College of Art, after winning a competition instigated by the Olympic Delivery Authority. The design is made up of a sequence of different size squares to give a pixilated visual sense of the clouds. The stencilled image was applied by spraying and hand painting to achieve a precision perfect finish and sealed with an anti-graffiti coating. Shortly afterwards local residents assembled to celebrate the opening of the new bridge and its improved road, cycling and walking links.
